A ship mechanic is an engineer with a high level of erudition who has fundamental theoretical background and practical skills. Already after 4 years of study, the graduate receives a bachelor’s degree, a working diploma of an international sample and all the necessary documents for working as a watch mechanic on ships. The curriculum is in line with the International Convention on Seafarers Training and Watchkeeping and the Law on Higher Education of Ukraine.

Specialization of specialists of specialty 271 “River and sea transport” of specialization “operation of ship power plants” is carried out at the department of Ship and stationary power plants (SSEU). The department consists of 30 persons – qualified specialists of the marine industry, professors and candidates of sciences in the field of marine and stationary energy. The department has a large material base, modern laboratories, computer classes, research pools and training classes. Each year the department produces 50..70 bachelors, 20..40 masters in the specialty “River and sea transport”.
The SSEU Chair has 20 years of experience in training marine mechanics. The department provides recruitment of students with a duration of study of 4 years for the degree of “bachelor” in the specialty 271 River and sea transport, specialization “Operation of SEU”. After 4 years of study, the graduate receives a bachelor’s degree, a working diploma of an international sample and all the necessary documents for working as a watch mechanic on ships. The curriculum is in line with the International Convention on Seafarers Training and Watchkeeping and the Law on Higher Education of Ukraine.
The bachelor’s degree is prepared for work on water transport, ship repair and shipyards and other enterprises.
Ship mechanics are some of the most sought after specialists in the Navy. Their salary for a month on foreign vessels is:
4th Mechanic 2800 … $ 3000;
3rd Mechanic 3100 … $ 3500;
