UNDERWATER TECHNOLOGY DAY – An International Scientific Dialogue on Underwater Technologies
On February 6, 2026, Aalborg University Esbjerg (Denmark) hosted the Underwater Technology Student Seminar, which brought together researchers, graduate students, undergraduates, and industry representatives to discuss cutting-edge solutions in the field of underwater technologies.
The event program included thematic sessions, industry presentations, and student projects. The focus was on autonomous marine systems, underwater navigation, sensor technologies, marine robotics, and engineering approaches to developing intelligent technical solutions.
Topics presented included:
🔹 Visual Underwater Navigation via Teacher-Student Reinforcement Learning
🔹 EKF-Based Sensor Fusion for USV-Aided UUV Navigation
🔹 Seadragon
🔹 Industrial solutions from Atlantic Tech & Candy – Marine Vision, MacArtney, SubC Partner, EIVA
Special attention was given to combining academic research with the practical experience of industrial partners. The event served as a platform for professional networking, the exchange of ideas, and discussions on the future of underwater technology.
As part of the program, a student project from the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (Mykolaiv, Ukraine) was presented.
Our young researchers—Mykhailo Solomakha and Bohdan Yermolenko—presented the results of their research, highlighting the technical aspects of the solutions they are developing, methodological approaches to modeling, and the results of experimental tests. Their work sparked professional interest and became part of a substantive international scientific and technical discussion.
We thank our partners at Aalborg University Esbjerg for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to the development of international cooperation in the field of underwater technologies.
