132. Material science Faculty / Institute: Shipbuilding Research Institute Department: Materials Science and Technology of Metals Technics of the XXI century, namely: transport and industrial vessels, oil-producing offshore complexes, instrumentation, medicine (prosthetics), automotive, as well as aerospace and home appliances cannot exist today without powder, composite materials, coatings. There is a growing need for new materials due to the need to reduce the weight of the products, improve their quality and reliability. This is due to both the need for energy conservation and the need to create new high-tech equipment. We train versatile multidisciplinary specialists in the field of knowledge 13 "Mechanical Engineering", specialty 132 "Materials Science" at the intersection of materials science and welding, computer science, medicine, nanotechnology. Our students are provided with a broad, broad-based knowledge of basic and applied sciences combined with industry-specific skills. This provides graduates with an opportunity to pursue a fast-paced career in any field of social life, taking into account current requirements for the development of technology and technology. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS Composite and powder materials, coatings Nanostructuring of metal and alloy products RESEARCH ACTIVITIES The main scientific direction of the department is the improvement of technologies of gas-thermal spraying of complex protective coatings; development of technologies aimed at obtaining new powder and composite materials, including nanostructured elements; strengthening of the surface of steel products by chemical-thermal treatment, technological methods of increasing the heat resistance of steels and alloys, study of the influence of plastic deformation on the structure and properties of metals and alloys. The staff of the department carries out state budget research topics. Scientific cooperation with the Faculty of Materials Science and welding »Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (JUST), Zhenjiang, China (China), Contract No. 2/12 of May 16, 2012 (2012-13) and Contract No. 01. 2013/01 of 08/01/2013 (2013-14) with a total of $ 66,000. FUTURE PROFESSIONS Mechanical engineer Engineer technologist Technical expert The manager of the organization or project of production of production Lecturer in special secondary education Lecturer in higher education EMPLOYMENT In machine-building, instrument-making, construction and other industries; At the enterprises for repair of wide-purpose equipment (from household to aerospace); Technical expert; In the production, which is associated with the creation and processing of powder, composite and ceramic materials, coatings; Graduates who have completed a master's degree have a greater career opportunity in enterprises and organizations of all forms of ownership, and have the right to work as teachers at higher education institutions and to enter postgraduate studies. OUR GRADUATES WORK AT ENTERPRISES State Enterprise "Zorya" - "Mashproject" PJSC Equator Institute of Impulse Processes and Technologies of NAS of Ukraine South Ukrainian NPP MORE INFORMATION The Department of Materials Science and Technology (MITM) was started in 1932 at the Metallographic Laboratory. The heads of the department in different years were: Assoc., Cand. tech. MA Medvedev - 1968-1980, Assoc., Cand. tech. AP Moskalyov, - 1980-1981, Prof., Ph.D. tech. LI Shvedov, 1981-1991. Since 1991 the department has been headed by O. Dubovy. Prof., Ph.D. tech. Sciences, Honored Worker of National Education of Ukraine, First Vice-Rector of the University (1995-2010). In 1969 a postgraduate course was opened at the department. The main direction of work of the department is the integration of the educational process with scientific researches in the field of metallurgy, materials science, heat treatment of metals and alloys, technology of coating coatings, technology of production of powder and composite materials and products from them. In 1998 the department received a license for training of bachelors, specialists and masters in specialty 8.050403 "Composite and powder materials, coatings". The first graduation of specialists in this specialty took place in February 2004. Throughout the study period, future graduates acquire a specialty in obtaining up-to-date materials, blanks and articles, strengthening and restoring details by coating. Of the total number of scientific and pedagogical staff of the department, more than 80% have a scientific degree, academic title and all - basic higher education. Young scientists VA Komarov, LP Klimenko (now rector of the Black Sea University named after Peter Mogila) received the Second Republican Award (1985) and bronze medals of the USSR VVDNG, VDNG of the USSR for the development and implementation (1989) of new technology of castings of diesel cylinder liners at the May Day 12 thousand rubles (1989). Karpichenko AA became the winner of the State Prize of the President of Ukraine in the field of science and technology for young scientists in 2013.
