Cybersecurity Faculty / Institute: Educational and Scientific Institute of Automation and Electrical Engineering Dept.: Department of Computer Technology and Information Security Modern life, and especially modern business, can not be imagined without information technology. Collecting, analyzing and storing information are paramount tasks not only for the modern person, but also for society as a whole, important for the state and business. Training of cyber security specialists is carried out by teachers of higher qualification in close cooperation with state institutions and leading organizations in this field: the State Secretariat of Ukraine in Mykolaiv Oblast; Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Nikolaev area (Department of Cyber ​​police); STC "QUANT" - the leader of Ukraine in the development of specialized hardware and software tools to counteract information leakage; PJSC “BESPECAINFOSERVICE” is a licensee of the State Secretariat of Communications, a leading organization for the examination and protection of information in the south of Ukraine. The training is conducted in modern equipped classrooms, laboratories, computer classes within the university LAN with Internet access. Starting from the first year, students have the opportunity to participate in interesting and informative programs for the creation of special equipment and software in the field of information security. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS Systems of technical protection of information, automation of its processing RESEARCH ACTIVITIES Employees of the Department of Computer Technology and Information Security are contractors of state budgetary and government contracting research. The main directions of the research work of the department are: development and evaluation of the effectiveness of methods and means of protecting acoustic information; development of methods and means of protection of digital images; improvement of information and cyber security management methods; the use of fuzzy set theory in information security problems; development of robotic technologies for the protection of marine infrastructure. The students of the department are regular participants of scientific and technical conferences, their works occupy the prize places at the All-Ukrainian professional Olympiads and competitions of student scientific works (mm. Kiev, Lviv, Kharkiv, Vinnitsa, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Odessa), which secured the University a place in the top five the best educational institutions of Ukraine in this area. MORE INFORMATION The Department of Computer Technology and Information Security is one of the youngest in the university, but we have experience in training information security professionals. On the initiative and on behalf of the Head of the State Service for Technical Protection of Information of Ukraine, General Yu.O. Semenov) employees of the department of EOS of UMMTU under the direction of the head of the department of associate professor and Chair of Computer Engineering and Onboard Computing Devices of KMUCA under the direction of Associate Professor O. Korchenko in 1995 began active preparation for the opening of a specialty in information security and in 1996 a new scientific and educational direction was launched - training of experts in technical protection of information. The Department of Ship Electrical and Information Security has started training specialists in information security since 1996, one of the first in Ukraine. During these years 21 graduates of specialists took place. The first issue of information security specialists took place in February 2003, and since 2004 there have been two specialist issues in several years. Most graduates started working in the specialty in the State Security Service, the Security Service of Ukraine, banking institutions, enterprises and organizations of Mykolaiv.
