International Cooperation: Researchers at the National University of Shipbuilding Adopt European Best Practices in Energy!

As part of the academic partnership between the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (Mykolaiv, Ukraine) and Aalborg University (Aalborg, Denmark), our young researchers—PhD Maxim Kozlov and PhD student Artem Ivashchenko—completed an intensive week-long training program in Denmark.

They participated in the prestigious international PhD program “In-depth Analysis of Energy Systems Based on the EnergyPLAN Model.” The training was conducted by leading global experts: Professors Henrik Lund and Poul Alberg Østergaard, as well as specialists Brian Vad Mathiesen, Jakob Zinck Thellufsen, and Alisson A. V. Julio.

During the course, participants learned how to use EnergyPLAN for:

• Forecasting the sustainable development of cities and local communities;

• Conducting technical analyses of large-scale integration of renewable energy sources;

• Designing flexible and efficient energy systems.

This course served as an excellent platform for networking. We were able not only to strengthen our cooperation with Denmark but also to establish contacts (both in an academic setting and in a warm, informal atmosphere) with researchers from Finland, Bangladesh, India, China, Portugal, and Spain.

The knowledge and skills gained through working with the EnergyPLAN model will be directly applied to projects aimed at the restoration and sustainable development of the power grid in the Mykolaiv region and throughout Ukraine!

We sincerely thank the University of Olsztyn for the invitation and this wonderful opportunity for professional growth!
